Legion of Honor

The Legion of Honor (LOH) consists of Shriners who have served or are still serving in the Armed Forces of our country. Our members are honorably discharged or retired, volunteer or draftee, officer or enlisted; we are all proud to have served our country, protecting our freedoms and the citizens therein. It doesn’t matter how old you are or in what conflict you served, the Legion of Honor welcomes everyone.

Our unit is a member of the International Association of Legions of Honor, which is made up of nearly 150 units and 9,000 members throughout Shriners International.

Our mission is:

  • To foster a spirit of patriotism, love of country and flag;

  • To perpetuate the memory of our comrades in arms who made the supreme sacrifice by giving their lives for their country while members of the armed forces;

  • To devote our efforts as individuals, and Legion of Honor members to strive for an increase in friendship and cooperation between our Legion of Honor units and other units of Shriners International.

We are the oldest unit in the temple and were organized in 1946 as the Alexandria unit of the Acca Shriners Legion of Honor. We take great pride in being an active and integral part of Kena Shriners. Our members can be seen presenting the colors at every meeting and ceremony, marching in the parades and proudly supporting Shriners Children's, our beloved philanthropy.
