The Legion of Honor (LOH) is
the veterans' unit of the Shrine. To be eligible for membership one has
had to have served honorably in the armed forces. We are a marching unit
and support the temple for all parades and various other temple
functions. The Legion of Honor participates in competitive color guard
competition with other temples. Every branch of the service, U.S. Coast
Guard included, and every war Since World War II is represented in the
Kena LOH membership. We are not all work and no play. We have an
Oktoberfest and our members are often present for many other temple,
club, and unit social functions.
On Veterans' Day (November 11) the Kena Legion of Honor joins with other
temple Legions of Honor throughout Shrinedom to lay a wreath at the Tomb
of the Unknowns, Arlington National Cemetery. This ceremony is also open
to the ladies and the Imperial Potentate normally attends. To be present
with such a large gathering of Shriners from so many temples at this
ceremony is a moving experience.
The Legion of Honor meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 PM.
